Emily Washburn Sets New School Record for Herkimer County Community College

Herkimer County Community College's Women's Swimming & Diving Team competed in the NJCAA national championship meet recently at Indian River State College, Ft. Pierce, Florida.

Senior Emily Washburn majoring in Liberal Arts & Sciences: Science from Forestport set a new Mountain Valley Conference and school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.43. In the last event of the meet, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Washburn swam the anchor leg in under one minute with a time of 59.44. Coach Brown said, "Emily is a true competitor. I am continuously impressed with her competitive spirit and sportsmanship."

The team finished in 11th place with a point total of 211. This is the most points a Herkimer swimming & diving team has ever earned at Nationals.
