Michelle Varney Named Green and Gold Athlete of the Month

Herkimer County Community College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for March 2012. HCCC's Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month.

The Female Athlete of the Month is Michelle Varney, a women's lacrosse player from Canton. Majoring in Liberal Arts & Sciences: GeneralStudies, Varney is a true team leader in all aspects of the game. Coach Dianna Ste-Marie said, "Michelle has improved 100% on her skills since last year. As team captain, she is leading the team in goals and assists. She encourages the team to progress in their skills everyday, and work together to build a strong team."

Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY, about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program.
