The Herkimer County Community College women's softball team won the 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Championship on Saturday, May 18 in Rochester Minnesota. The Generals had a 4-0 record in the national tournament and a season ending record of 43-2. Several players earned awards at the Regional Tournament as well as at the World Series National Tournament.

Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 38 national, 92 regional and 136 conference championships. Herkimer placed third in the 2012-13 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
